I spent 2 years preparing to be a nurse before God changed my course of study to the Bible. I studied part time at Arizona College of the Bible, then continued studying at Calvary Chapel Bible College through an extension campus in Phoenix. I also went on several short term mission trips to Mexico, Ireland, South Africa, and Spain. I worked for three years as a secretary at a small mission organization in Phoenix. I also taught children’s Sunday school for many years.

I actually was not planning on going to Thailand. I was in midst of preparing to go to another country when I heard about an opportunity to go to Thailand and teach English. At first I didn't think much about that opportunity, but after being encouraged to pray about it, I accepted the call to go to Thailand. My inital thought was that it would be for one year, but after seeing past the outward smiles to the need and the sadness and the spiritual hunger in people's lives, God brought Math. 9:37-38 to mind:

"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into the harvest field."

My second year in Thailand was spent in Thai language study. It was during that year that I became acquainted with a church in Chiang Khong, Thailand. It's a small town, and an unparallelled opportunity to build relationships and not build on another man's foundation. It was about this time that I really started to meet Hmong people and hear about their plight. God really touched my heart and gave me a burden to reach Hmong people, especially the young people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. My heart's desire is to disciple Hmong girls and see them grow in Christ.
